How Can I Develop My Infant’s Intelligence?

Every parent wants to see their infant’s intelligence develop to its fullest potential. Stimulating your child’s intelligence is one of the most important things that you can do for your infant. The fact of the matter is that most experts suggest that intelligence is partially inherited, but it is also partially due to the environment and the teaching and interacting that you do with your child. Fortunately, there are specific sorts of things that you can do to help develop your infant’s intelligence.

One thing you can do to help develop your infant’s intelligence is to understand a few things about infants. Infants learn by playing, and by sensing things. Just placing interesting pictures from a soft sided book, for example, into your infant’s hands can help to develop her intelligence. Rolling a ball across the floor toward your infant, or playing “patty cake” can even help to develop your infant’s intelligence.

When it comes to developing your infant’s intelligence, you have to keep this learning process in mind. You aren’t going to be teaching your infant much of anything. Rather, you are providing opportunities for your infant to interact with, and to discover, the world around him.

It is also important that you don’t over-stimulate your infant when trying to develop your infant’s intelligence. If an infant has too much stimulation in terms of her senses, she will probably become grouchy and shy away from your activities. Learn to recognize when she is done with learning. When she turns her head away from the book you are showing her, for example, she is probably ready to be done for now.

If you have concerns about how your infant’s intelligence is developing, you should speak with your health care provider. Your health care provider can help you to know if your infant is experiencing some sort of developmental delay, or whether your infant’s intelligence is developing normally.
