Does Hypnosis Work For Morning Sickness?

One of the more frustrating things about morning sickness is the fact that many of the medications that are available for nausea just haven’t been sufficiently tested to be safe for pregnant women. For this reason, many pregnant women have explored a variety of alternative treatments and therapies to try to alleviate their morning sickness. One of the alternative treatments that has worked for some women is hypnosis.

Hypnosis is used for a variety of things, from quitting smoking to relaxation. In terms of pregnancy and morning sickness, hypnosis tries to work on a specific part of the brain. The part of the brain that triggers nausea and vomiting can be calmed down through the use of hypnosis. Many people have seen hypnosis work for morning sickness, as well as a variety of other types of nausea and vomiting. Some people have had hypnosis work for the nausea that often accompanies cancer chemotherapy treatments, for example.

There are a variety of different types of hypnosis that can be tried to help with morning sickness. There are audio hypnosis products, which typically come in CD format, that you can listen to. These CDs use the principles of hypnosis to try to alleviate your morning sickness. You can also engage in direct hypnotherapy sessions with a specialist in hypnosis, as well. If one form of hypnosis does not seem to work for your morning sickness, you may be able to try another one.

Hypnosis may not work for morning sickness for everyone. There are, however, other alternative treatments that you can explore that may work for your morning sickness. These can include things like acupressure (whether it is in the form of acupressure bands or actually getting an acupressure massage), acupuncture, herbal solutions such as ginger or mint, or even using Vitamin B12. For many women, finding a solution for morning sickness that works will be a process of trial and error until they find one that works for them.
