Stretch marks can rarely be avoided altogether, at least for the pregnant woman. Pregnancy is just too traumatic on a woman’s body not to leave some marks. In some ways, stretch marks are a mark of motherhood. Having said all of that, there are things that you can do to help with stretch marks. Some women have even turned to using a variety of essential oils to help with stretch marks. These oils are typically mixed just a drop or two in with a regular massage oil. There are also even specific massage oils available that are especially designed to help with stretch marks.
One of the essential oils that may be able to help with stretch marks is lavender. Lavender is an essential oil that is an anti-inflammatory. Lavender is also thought to help regenerate the skin and to reduce scarring of the skin. This is especially true of stretch marks, as stretch marks are in many ways a certain type of scarring. In addition, lavender has relaxing properties for the pregnant or nursing woman. Another essential oil that can help with stretch marks is sweet orange. Sweet orange is thought to help with the production of collagen. In addition, sweet orange helps to moisturize the skin. Mandarin is a similar essential oil, which helps in other ways. Mandarin helps to cool and purify the area with the stretch marks.
In addition to using essential oils directly, there are lotions, creams, and “butters” that use essential oils to help with stretch marks as well. These typically will rely on a variety of natural ingredients, such as avocado butter, shea butter, and olive oil. They may also include certain herbs such as chamomile, and other ingredients like Vitamin E that can help to treat your stretch marks naturally.
While there is no guarantee that essential oils can help you with stretch marks, many women have found success with these methods.
