There are a great number of products that are designed to help with stretch marks. Some of these products claim to be able to prevent stretch marks, while others purport to get rid of stretch marks or to at least reduce their visibility. Some of these products take the form of medications, while many others take the form of stretch mark creams. While not all of these products do what they claim to do, many women have had success with a variety of stretch mark treatments.
Stretch mark creams may rely on either artificial or natural ingredients. Many treatments rely on what are known as retinoids to help your stretch marks. These artificial creams often may use other ingredients such as glycolic acid or L-ascorbic acid. Some women have demonstrated concerns about some of these sorts of creams, however, and have turned to more naturally-based stretch mark creams.
Fortunately, there are a good number of natural or herbal stretch mark creams. Often these stretch mark creams will rely on natural lubricants like cocoa butter. Cocoa butter is a natural skin lubricant. It is known to help with the softening and smoothing of skin, as well as relieving dry skin. Cocoa butter can be applied to existing stretch marks, or it can be applied to the areas that are prone to stretch marks, such as on the abdomen, thighs, and in the breast area. Some cocoa butter products are mixed with a variety of other ingredients. Some may include mineral oil, coconut oil, petroleum, and palm oil. Some may contain certain skin-friendly vitamins, as well.
There are other things besides stretch mark creams that can help with your stretch marks. Eating a diet that is high in vitamins C, E, and A may help. Eating foods that contain zinc may help, as well, as can eating foods that contain essential fatty acids.
