Herbs To Prepare Your Body For Labor

Those last few days before you are due can be a time of great apprehension. There are so many emotions, from excitement to fear to joy that surround the process of labor and birth. In addition, labor is something that is physically straining. Fortunately, there are things that you can do to help prepare your body for labor. You can keep on a low-impact exercise routine that will help your stamina, for example. You can do stretches, and you can practice breathing techniques. There are even herbs that you can use to prepare your body for labor.

One of the ways that you can use herbs to prepare your body for labor is through the use of herbal teas. Teas that contain ingredients like chamomile, fennel seed, partridgeberry, and red raspberry leaf can help to relax your body, to soothe your mood, and even help to support effective contractions during the birthing process. There are even herbal teas that will help to encourage the production of breast milk. You can get these herbs to prepare your body for labor from teas, or you can sometimes get them from a variety of supplements.

Another way to use herbs to prepare your body for labor is to use herbal massage oils. By using herbal massage oils on the perineum, you can help to increase the chances that you will not tear during childbirth, or need an episiotomy. While perineal massage with herbal oils does not guarantee these things, many women who have used herbal oils and perineal massage have been able to make it through labor and delivery with only a moderate amount of strain on the perineum.

Labor can also be a time of nausea. You can use certain herbs, especially ginger, to help reduce that nausea. Many women who used a herbal tea or other herbal nausea remedies for morning sickness at the beginning of their pregnancy will find that they can again use those items at the end of their pregnancy to help with nausea during labor.
