Clomid is, in many ways, a wonder drug. The fact of the matter is that Clomid is extremely effective at helping with fertility issues. Clomid helps to stimulate a woman’s ovulatory cycle. Clomid can also help a woman who is having difficulty getting pregnant due to certain medical conditions, such as PCOS (polycystic ovarian system). Some research suggests that as many as a third of women who take Clomid will find that they have become pregnant within a year. Still, Clomid does not work for everyone. In addition, there are women who would prefer to approach conception naturally, and don’t want to deal with the side effects and the risks that can come with a medication like Clomid. For these women, there are some natural alternatives to Clomid that can be tried.
Herbal remedies are one of the natural alternatives to Clomid. These supplements will typically contain things like Vitex (Chasteberry), Vitamin B6, or Evening Primrose Oil. Each of these is thought to help to promote ovulation, just as Clomid does. There are herbs that are thought to help with reproduction, as well, that a woman may try as a natural alternative to Clomid. These would include Red clover, Red Raspberry Leaves, and False Unicorn root. There is some evidence, however, that Red Raspberry Leaves have been connected with miscarriage. If you are pregnant, you should avoid Red Raspberry leaves.
There may be other natural alternatives to Clomid, as well. Sometimes, dietary and lifestyle changes are enough to kick a woman’s ovulatory cycle back into gear. In other cases, it may just be that a woman needs to eat a more balanced and nutritional diet, or that she should back off on the strenuous exercise.
If you are looking for alternatives to Clomid, it won’t hurt to speak with your health care provider, as well. It may be worth discussing other fertility medications, or fertility procedures to help you become pregnant.
