Caring for a baby today seems to require quite a bit of equipment. From diapers to ointments to soaps and shampoos, the fact of the matter is that we are more concerned than ever with the health, safety, and comfort of our babies. However, it is also true that many of the baby care products that are available may contain ingredients that really aren’t the best for our babies. Some baby care products may contain pesticides, or have been exposed to toxic chemicals or fertilizers. Some baby care products may contain medications that may or may not be beneficial to your baby, and some of which will have a variety of side effects. Fortunately, there are natural baby care products available as alternatives to some of these sorts of products.
The first and often the most obvious natural baby care product that people think of is cloth diapers, as opposed to package diapers. Cloth diapers that are made of 100% cotton are natural alternatives to packaged diapers. Many parents who use these cloth diapers also turn to towels or rags, as opposed to baby wipes, to clean up their baby’s messes.
If you do choose to use baby wipes, there are a variety of baby wipes available that may be more on the natural side than others. There are some that are free of perfumes, allergens, and other artificial ingredients. The same holds true for things like soap and shampoos. While there are soaps and shampoos that are supposed to be designed for babies, such as tear-free shampoos, the fact remains that there are still many artificial chemical ingredients in some of these products. For this reason, many parents choose to turn to more natural baby care products, such as shampoos that are designed with herbal ingredients. While these natural baby care products may not have the “tear-free” quality to them, they are still often much better for your baby than products that are not natural baby care products.
