Quick Morning Sickness Tips

Morning sickness is one of the most common and often most inconvenient symptoms of pregnancy. Morning sickness that’s especially severe can interfere with just about every aspect of your life. While you can’t prevent morning sickness altogether, there are some things you can do to help lessen the severity and frequency of your morning sickness.

Here are some of the most effective quick morning sickness tips:

  • Eat several small meals spaced out through the day rather than three large meals.
  • Drink some fluids about half an hour before and after your meal, but not with your meal.
  • Drink several sips of liquids throughout the day to avoid becoming dehydrated.
  • Keep some soda crackers by your bed and eat a couple about 15 minutes before you get up in the morning.
  • Try to avoid anything with a strong smell, even a good one, as smells may trigger your morning sickness.
  • Avoid food smells as much as possible. Try to get someone else to cook for you, and when necessary turn on fans or open windows to dissipate smells.
  • Get enough sleep at night, and if possible take at least a short rest during the day.
  • Try to keep from getting hot, as overheating will add to your morning sickness.
  • Try some herbal remedies, especially those containing ginger, to help relieve your morning sickness.
  • Consider using sea sickness bands that will help to relieve your nausea.
  • Exercise regularly, as this can help to relieve your nausea, as well.
  • Don’t lie down after eating as this will increase the chances you’ll get reflux.
  • Don’t skip meals or you’ll get too hungry, which aggravates nausea.
  • Try not to cook or eat any spicy foods.

Doing these things won’t protect you entirely from morning sickness, if you’re prone to it. The good news is that your morning sickness is going to go away. For most women, it will go away some time before the end of your first trimester.
