  What Are Probiotics Made From?

Probiotics are one of the newest areas of research, in terms of health and medicine. Probiotics show great promise in several areas, from helping with things like colic in babies, to helping with eczema. The truly amazing thing about probiotics is that, in the most basic sense, probiotics are a type of bacteria.

This comes as a surprise to many people. We generally think of bacteria as bad things. We take antibiotics to get rid of infections, and we use antibacterial soaps and cleansers to keep these bacteria out of our systems. However, the fact of the matter is that there are also “good” bacteria that our bodies use and need in order to function properly. This is especially true of the gut. The gut, which is also called the digestive tract or the gastrointestinal tract, has around ten times the amount of bacteria that the other parts of the body have. These bacteria are an important part of the body’s ecosystem. The bacteria in the gut perform a number of important functions in the body.

The bacteria in the gut do a number of things for a person. First of all, they help to aid in the development and the function of the gut. They help the process of digestion. They help the absorption of nutrients. Bacteria in the gut help to synthesize vitamins. Bacteria in the gut help with the absorption of minerals. They help to break down carcinogens in the diet. They help the development and the functioning of the immune system. Gut bacteria even help to form a barrier that acts against harmful bacteria, as well as toxins and antigens. Finally, these bacteria in the gut help to protect the body against infections of a variety of types.

Probiotics are supplements that are, essentially, these bacteria that help the body to function. There are a variety of different probiotics that are made from different bacteria. One of the most proven probiotics, L. reuteri Protectis, has been used for infants, children, and adults to help with a variety of problems.
