As seven out of every ten pregnant women knows, it can be difficult to deal with morning sickness. While some women certainly experience more frequent or more intense morning sickness, the fact of the matter is that morning sickness is no fun at all. Compounding the problem is the fact that many of the medications designed to reduce nausea just haven’t been sufficiently tested to be safe for pregnant women and their babies. So, many pregnant women have turned to a variety of natural remedies for morning sickness.
Some of the most helpful, but often most overlooked remedies for morning sickness have to do more with prevention. By avoiding certain foods, such as those that are high in saturated fats, foods that are spicy, and foods that tend to have strong smells, you may be able to keep from triggering your morning sickness. In addition, it may help to eat small and frequent meals rather than 3 large meals during the day. Keeping hydrated will also help, as dehydration is a major cause of nausea in general.
There are, of course, actual remedies for morning sickness that nature has provided. Ginger, for example, has been used for hundreds of years to help with nausea. Many pregnant women have had success using ginger tea, ginger root supplements, or other ginger products. Peppermint is another natural remedy for morning sickness that can also be taken in a tea form. There are also other herbs, such as Vitex or Chasteberry, that may be taken to help remedy your morning sickness. There are nutritional supplements available that contain one or more of these natural remedies for morning sickness, as well.
There are other natural remedies for morning sickness that you can consider. Some women have had luck with acupuncture. If you can’t bear the thought of needles, you might check into acupressure. In fact, there are even a variety of wrist bands that rely on acupressure principles in order to relieve nausea. While these bands are often marketed as motion sickness bands, the fact of the matter is that many pregnant women have used them, successfully, in relieving their morning sickness.
