  What Herbs Should I Use After My Baby Is Born?

Life after your baby is born can be a very exciting time. After your baby is born, many of the various types of pains, aches, and discomforts that you had during your pregnancy are gone. After your baby is born, you are probably going to start getting more solid sleep, even with those nighttime feedings going on. Still, there are any number of new and different problems you might face after your baby is born. Whether it is discomfort of the bottom, sore breasts, or the baby blues, there are herbs that you should use after your baby is born.

Some of the types of things that you can use herbs for after your baby is born is in the areas of anxiety and the baby blues. Every new mom has a bad day or a rough afternoon here and there, and a relaxing cup of herbal tea, containing relaxing herbs like chamomile or lavender, can help her to de-stress enough to continue on with her motherly activities.

Another area in which you can use herbs after your baby is born is in the area of bottom problems. If you have perineal soreness from tearing or from an episiotomy, or just from the stretching that happens during childbirth, or if you have hemorrhoids, there are herbs that you can use to help comfort these areas. There are a number of different herbal remedies that you can consider after yoru baby is born to combat discomforts like these. You can use a perineal compress. You might consider using herbal lotions or creams that are aimed at these particular discomfort. Typically, you’ll find herbs like witch hazel, yarrow, calendula, shea butter and St. John’s Wort in these. There are even some sprays designed to be used directly on your bottom after your baby comes.

It is also common for a woman to experience ore breasts both before, and after, her baby is born. For example, you may have breast soreness that is the result of engorgement. In some cases, it can come from clogged milk ducts. Here again, there are herbs to use that can help. For these discomforts, you can use breast compresses, which will often be based on cabbage leaves or even black tea. There are also lotions or creams for postpartum discomfort of the breasts. Generally, these herbal remedies will also have some natural creams and butters, such as cocoa butter and mango butter.
