Why Does Shampoo Make My Baby’s Skin Break Out?

Share |

The fact of the matter is that babies have sensitive skin. Having said that, some babies have more sensitive skin than others. For some babies, regular hygiene products have the potential to make their skin break out. Even shampoo can make your baby’s skin break out if he or she has particularly sensitive skin. In some cases, the reason that shampoo makes your baby’s skin break out may have to do with the specific ingredients in the shampoo.

Many shampoos, even baby shampoos, may have ingredients that aren’t necessarily the healthiest thing for your baby’s skin. For example, many of the baby shampoos that are available may contain ingredients such as pesticides, or they may have been exposed to toxic chemicals or fertilizers. Some shampoos may contain medications that may or may not be beneficial to your baby, and some of which will have a variety of side effects. Knowing what exactly is in your baby’s shampoo will help you to know if there is a specific ingredient in the shampoo that is making your baby’s skin break out. In some cases, just changing brands of shampoo may keep your baby’s skin from breaking out.

There are also a variety of all-natural baby shampoo products. These shampoos tend to avoid many of the harmful substances that are contained in regular shampoos. In some cases, they may even incorporate certain herbs that can help to soothe your baby at bath time, as well as get him or her clean. If shampoo is making your baby’s skin break out, it may be worth trying a more natural baby shampoo such as one of these.

Overall, this is going to be something of a process of trial and error. If shampoo is making your baby’s skin break out in a severe way, or if it is causing severe rashes or sores to appear on your baby, you should probably stop using that shampoo, and talk to your health care provider about treating the skin break out effectively.
